I also agree with you on this, I'm taking the VHF Module 1 & 2 next month.
About the auxilliary, after 4hp I find they start getting heavy and awkward and if the boat is small you have to start thinking about trim issues, not to mention the back. I have a 5 and I wouldnt like it any heavier. I was told 1hp per metre length is the formula.
