Report:My youngest daughter, Toni, hadn't been out fishing with me for a long time so today I twisted here arm to come out. Although it was fairly cool, it was flat calm, but all the same we headed for a sheltered part of the Harbour. I had set up about four blue/green Motherworms for both of us to try. I had picked these up recently from Padge and was having some success with them. These were glued to a Xorus jig head. For the afternoon we drifted the same patch; starting up abeam of a well known land mark and drifting almost in the centre of the fast flowing channel. We continued each drift for about 300 hundred yards before starting up again. Noticeably most of the fish were caught as we drifted from the reef and structure onto sand and it was great cracking.

We had our first fish on the second drift, and thereafter almost had a fish a drift. That first fish was a good sized fish coming in at over 5lbs. In fact all the fish were solid out and probably weighed more than our B.A.S.S. tape indicated. Toni got fairly bored quickly and was asking what time we were going home after only half an hour . We made a deal that we’d pack up after the tenth fish. Toni wasn’t catching, but she wasn’t working the plastics properly either. When I hooked into a good fish I insisted that she’d reel it in. We hooked this fish just at the edge of the tide rip and again in this prolific patch. The fish gave a great fight and the Shukan I was using was almost doubled over. When Toni got it to the surface I could see that it was a great fish . I quickly netted it and we set it down to measure it. On the tape it measured 69cm and weighed just about 8lbs. This is one of the biggest lure caught fish I’ve had on this stretch of ground and certainly the biggest I’ve had so far on the lures I bought off Padge. I got a great pic of Toni with it before we released it. I’d have like to have stayed on but Toni was having none of it and put her foot down. Boy, she’s like her mother !!! Well anyway it was nice to get out with her and we did have great fishing .

Cracking report,some super bass and great to see the next generation catching even if they havent got the interest.

at last some one out in the boat was thinking this weather would keep them all ashore that was a great report and a beautiful bass the important father/daughter time priceless the only thing i would worry about would be next time its her turn to pick where to go if it was my daughter this would involve a trip to some shopping centre and just bring your wallet lol well done on the fish

10 bass in 2 hours, that's very good Pat, fair play for taking your daughter out to get her interested in the sport, funnily only the female members of my family, my wife and my daughter are keen on nature and fishing, it's the boys who need their arms twisted every time, real nerds

....even if they havent got the interest.

They all had an interest when they were young viewtopic.php?f=21&t=8473....its only when they get into the teens that they lose interest. Too many other things going on I suppose .

Wow Pat, thats great fishing. If your daughter aint hooked for life after that, she never will be! well done mate.
