Report:The fishing area for day 3 was designated as the same as for day 2. As the first half of the day was to be on the drift most boats again opted to fish the Smiths. All anglers were supplied with rag and the drift fishing certainly produced interesting results, despite the fact that the strong westerly breeze probably made the drift too fast. Nevertheless, plenty of fish were caught and the species count was dramatically increased over the previous two days. The only drawback was that the min size of 280mm meant that many of the fish, particularly the cuckoo wrasse, were just marginally out. Below is a pic of Carrigaline SAC President, John Sheehan, with a typical cuckoo. John must have had well over a dozen, all were agonisingly just short of the measure:
