Puffin, Courtown 10.07.09

Mon Jul 13, 2009 2:11 am

People: Myself and 5 others

Duration: 17:00-21:00

Tide: Rising

Weather: Overcast Dry moderate wind from the SE

Bait: Mackerel, Squid

Rigs: Various

Results: Thornback Ray, Dab, Grey Gurnard, Tub Gurnard, Dogs, Whiting, Mackerel

Report: Headed out of Courtown aboard Puffin skippered by Mick Redmond, the main quarry was Tope and Ray. Hopes were relatively high even if the conditions had changed slightly on the previous day which had seen 14 Tope caught and tagged onboard Puffin with the biggest around the 35lb mark. We made straight for the Tope mark and dropped down big Tope baits and rachets were set... Doggies weren't long in moving in on the scent trail of the rubby dubby which had made a nice slick uptide of the boat. There were a few nice Rays taken Tub and Grey Gurnard showing too... Unfortunately despte our best efforts the Tope didn't play ball... still it was an enjoyable session with the best fish of the session a 10lb Ray going to a young angler called Richard...

Good stuff. You did well in spite of the Tope not showing up. :)
