This year we decided to hold our master angler competition out of kinsale harbour, (what a venue) We had the pleasure of fishing on willam van dykes boats, Whispering Star & Harpey, 43foot aquastars, skippered by Niall & Karl, Hats off to you's lads you's really gave us the best of fishing.

over the 2 days the fishing on the drift was so good we decided not to bother with the anchor, in total there was 638 counter fish caught in the event with the most prevalent species being Ling, we landed 142 ling over the 2 days, the best ling measured 85cm and the best cod tipped the scales at 8 & 1/2 lbs.

all the usual rigs were working, but the shamrock cod claspers (white beads and 2 blades) kicked Lings A*S and rigs with shamrocks small red muppet rigs were standing out for catching grey gurnard, there was a big difference in catches for those using powder coated leads either white luminous or orange, we picked them up in dublin tackle shops.

Below are pictures of megrim the largest cod and a grey gurnard
