Dunmore East 21st june

Fri Jun 26, 2009 10:14 am

Had Shane and the lads down for a days general fishing .Not as good as last year but still a fine day .

We started the day looking for mackeral which were very hard to find ,we got more at anchor in Tramore bay then on the drift.
Went to anchor on some clean ground for ray ,had a few small thornies and dabs and I think 4 congers .One conger made a dash for freedom through the scupper before the lads could put the tape on it ,as they were having a prize for longest fish at anchor and on the drift.
Headed out to a reef for a few drifts, not a lot going, one nice cod. Went back to anchor for last part of day, more conger and a few nice pollock on rag and jellies .
A great day, good craic and a good few fish.

Here is the conger that didnt get away.

great trip with a grand bunch of lads all a pleasure to fish with

wasted a lot of time looking for macks earlier on only to get them at anchor full strings at a time  i soon got fed up with them.
great bit of banter going around the boat all day. it was great to see tony recover from loosing his conger out the scupper and catch 2 more.

that was a great recovery tony and to take the monie even better
i think i was the only one to pay up as far as i can remember.
a fair days fishing i think we had 10 species on the boat for the day not too bad i suppose.

its better than sitting at home with a load of bait going off  .

i done quite well on the last hour while fishing for conger i also fished for pollack and was landing fish every second or third drop.
nice meeting you angus, that apple tart and tea went down a treat
