What can i say about this trip, only it was one of those days that everything just clicked weather, fishing, rigs, bait, jeep and boat all performed and we had the results and a great day afloat.
left Dundalk at 4am to get an early start and to be guaranted a few fresh macs, arrived in cushendun and launched into a sea that reflected the surface of a pond.
headed towards the cages and where pestered with small coalies so headed about 200yrds of and bingo into our bait with a few launce as well.
we headed to the open ground as the tide was ebbing and first drop a good red gunard on the 1st rod when i shouted to seirt as my 2nd rod was hooped over and after a good we scrap up came this we fella.

We where drifting when he hit what a start to the day not even out a hour.
we had a few decent fish of this area and as the drift eased the dogs came on strong so a move to try for the Plaice was decided and Bass hunter soon had us over the mark.
the 1st drift only produced a few small Plaice so another move and Bingo 1st drift i had a treble shot and seirt wiggled out a few better fish.
On the last drift we ran real close in when I go a good bite, played out line and would you believe it this wee boyo pops up.

That really made my day but with day light a plenty back to the open ground where we continued to get great fishing with me hitting into a good cod only to loose it inches from the net

All in all 14 species in a day is a GREAT DAY OUT
