Mon Dec 08, 2008 2:24 pm

People: jw, luke aston

Duration: 08:00-15:30

Tide: neap

Weather: calm, then freshening south west

Bait: frozen mackerel, squid, fresh lug

Rigs: simpler 3 hook pater, gowan and bradshaw devil rigs, skate traces

Results: poor cod, pollack, ballans, cuckoos, coalie, whiting

Report: there was ice on the boat in the morning, i though cool man
i can get to break it off with a hammer, but for some reson the skipper would not
let me have the hammer

at the washing machine it was flat calm and plenty of ballans could
be picked up there, as well as pollack and coalies, the deep water marks a
few miles north were not so generous, about mid afternoon the wind
veered sw and the sea quickly took back its winter appearance andit
was time to head for home

its nice to be able to get out still this time of year on the big boats
Jw, you've proved to us fishing around loop head (in my opinion) it is probably one of the most underrated venues, it offers so many species throughout the year from blueshark/ray/tope conger to cod/pollack/whiting/haddock/ballans/john dory & gurnards but to name a few,

i fished there 2 years ago and spent 5 days out on the boats, it was an anglers paradise

gladly i will be getting another 5 days in this year as my club has decided to hold our club tournament there "cant wait"

regard

mick
