Report: Last minute decision to shoot off down to Cork on what was to be a sociable event oppose to fishing trip! Boat in tow I decided to take the N11 down and the N25 so to avoid the chaos that is the M50 and the red cow roundabout. To my surprise it worked out quicker! It is 161 miles from Greystones to Cork using the N7/N8 and only 150 using the N11/N25. At least on the N11&N25 there are shops, fuel stations and most Importantly a McDonalds which can't be said for the boring N7/N8 route. Anyways back to the fishing. I launched for 8.45 am and was into plenty of good macko's by 9.00am. I tried a few new marks just outside the harbour, all of which came good. One spot produced 13 Huss in the space of an hour or so. Another produced some Scorpion fish, a species that seems to haunt everyone in the annual small boats festival. It's always great to try new marks and get the species you set out to target. As per usual Cork harbour produced all the usual species you would expect, it's amazing really how many species are in there. What was equally amazing was the lack of Warriors on the water. It was definitely the first time I have been down there and seen less than two warriors for the whole day, that was obviously down to the Cork Hurling match being on and the comp in Caherciveen. With little more than 2 months left before the Cork Small Boats festival I will be making plenty more trips down to continue the practice! - Hopefully Donal can manage my Crab demands!
