Weather: SW Wind, increasing!

Rigs: 2 hook boom rigs, various hokai + feathers

Results:

Met up with skipper Sean Lavelle at the pontoon in Blacksod, the morning looked fine but the forecast was for the wind to increase. No small
craft warning from the Coastguard so we set off. We had three kids and some of the others were not too experienced so decided to head for
shelter off Achill. Starting looking for wrasse with the kids feathering for mackeral. Could not get close to the rocks due to lobster pots.

The wind was causing a fast drift so difficult to remain in contact with the bottom for long, eventually got a Ballan and also a weaver  .
There wasn't many mackerel about so moved to another spot.

The lads started to hit the macks and were happily bringing them in. Started to pick up some nice Pollack, had some great sport, that initial dive is fantastic. They really went for the hollographic eels but were also coming to Kilmore killers and the hokai's. Got some decent coalies on the same mark and a ling. 8)
Surprised that no gurnard or doggies were about.
It was difficult enough fishing as the drift was very quick, hit 2.3 knots at one stage. Sean worked hard and managed to make the best of the
conditions. He would have liked to take it to a number of other marks but with the dodgy weather and kids onboard he didn't chance it.

Headed back in and once we left the shelter we started to see what it was like, quite "lumpy" on the way back in but skipper and boat handled
it without fuss. All back safe and sound, tired but happy! :D

Looking forward to the next trip already
