Tide: all stages

Weather: sunny and windy morning, fieve showers later

Bait: no mackerel- no bait ;-)

Rigs: pirks and gulp eels for me, feeders for others

Results: plenty of pollocks and coalies- up to 10-11 lbs, one ling, one tub gurnard... poor species record....

Report:
Cracking day, first time on sea this year, driften over rocks, and mixed ground and depths between 10 to 55 meters, bring as a fish from first spot. Doubles and even trebels comes to the boat very often

it's hard work to reel in three fish from 50m, but after all it's good fun

On the end of our trip, even Kevin was pleased to pose with fish

It was great day on the water, we didn't try put anchor down, becouse we had no bait, coudn't catch any mackerel :oops: they just not arround, witch was difficulte.
Any way we had enough fun :lol:

Sounds like a v good day, well done. Am out with Kevin on Friday, for first time in this area. Was wondering if using fling collar type rigs is an advantage, as it can be in some places.. Also keen to try out the new pirk style speed jigs. Any thoughts on this or other tips would be appreciated. thanks Nick..

flying collar rig, can be used with good results, especially when You put artificial sand eels, as lure. Try Gulp sand eels, or Storm- they looks like pipe fish, more than eels, but they attract fish big time! Anyway I like to use pirks, with one or two hooks, around 3-5 feet up from pirk. Lower is stuffed with eel, upper is usually big shrimp like fly. Use pirks light as You can, depending on depth, and tide stage. I mainly use weights from 90 grams to 160 grams. 180g not so often. They works well on light braid. keep contact with bottom all the time.

And don't forget swap trebels for good quality single hook on Your pirk, or just use links weaker than Your main line :wink:
It will save You some euros 8)

Nice fishing there Tomi, was out with Kevin last summer myself and found him to be an absolute gent of a skipper, top marks.
