Report: headed out for the first couple of hours to try the waterford estuary entrance, going to give this "undiscovered" area a good going over this year, convinced there must be good ray fishing and poss tope fishing , its just a case of putting the work in to find the "golden times"
First two hours only saw a lot of hard fighting dogfish, not a great start, but it was an ebb tide.
Headed in to pick up angus at 13.00 and we set off to the east of the hook.
drifted various reefs and had a super afternoons fishing, every drop produced fish, and some fine ones two, highlight being a Nevskibbs speci Cuckoo Wrasse, and Angus with his treble shot of Cod!!
interestingly the main action was over high water and the start of the flood, plain old pink flashers did the trick, nevskib tried gilling when the pollock were thick, but interestingly they were not interested at all! just pink flashers!!
he did attach a pirk to his rig and when the fishing slackened a little , he was still picking up some nice cod on the pirk, this was baited with mack.
All in all a great afternoon out, even though the sea did get a little lumpy with a nice ride back through the washing machine south of hook head.
regards
