Boat: Inisfree ( Charter ) Billy Bates
Crew: Myself, my son Rob, The Summerman, M O D, The Millionaire
Date:21st November
Location: Kilmore Quay
Duration:8 hours
Weather Mixture of sun and overcast spells. Got better as the day went out. Cold slight north westerly breeze.
Bait:Ragworm, Squid, Mackerel, Feathers, Pirks, Muppets, Rapalas etc, etc
Rigs: Patternoster, Long flowing traces
Results: Codling 30+ up to 3 lb, Pollock lost count after 40 up to 6 or 7 lb, and loads of Wrasse up to a cracker of approx 5 lb.
Report: Travelled across from Wales on the 0245hrs Stena Ferry. Off down to Kilmore quay in the millionaires van. Straight out on Billy Bates's Inisfree. Left the marina at 8am. Headed out to fish the reefs east of Kilmore along towards Carnsore Point. Non stop action most of the day. Hardly time to have our sandwiches. Fished long flowing traces for the first couple of hours. A few codling, quite a lot of pollack and loads of wrasse. Changed tactics to feathers/muppets etc jigging. Started to catch the codling and loads of lunker pollack. M O D thought he would try drifitig a rapala pn the bottom with a 4oz weight. Much to our shock he struck into a 3lb codling. BillyBates was amused and amazed' never seen a codling caught like that before' Quite a lot of lunker Pollack took the Rapala. Headed back in about 4pm. Back to Rosslare for a slapup meal and some lovely Irish Ales. Caught the 2115 ferry home.
A wonderful day. The fishing around this area is in a different league to the fishing around our area.
Thanks for everyones advice and help. We are hoping to have a go at fishing the Tuskar area, possibly in January. I suppose the Wexford charters would cover this. If anyone could recommend one I would really appreciate it.
Regards

Funny you should mention shads John. I had some cracking storm shads in my tackle box but forgot to use them. I was thinking yesterday that I might have got some nice codling on them.
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers
