People:Me and 2 boatloads of others

Duration:Out 9-5, lines down 10-4

Tide:LT ~2pm

Weather: F5-F6 gusty, increasing to F7 later, overcast and dry

Bait: Mack

Rigs: Various

Results:Cod, pollack, coalfish, red gurnard, pouting

Report:

Got a spare seat on a boat out of Spiddal, a fishing club from Athlone were having a derby competition but didn't have 2 full boats so I tagged along. Got enough mack for bait in 5 mins, they were there in numbers.
Fished a couple of marks between Fanore and Inis Oirr, I had cod and coalies in the morning, but fish were few and far between. Very few other fish caught. We moved closer to the island to another mark and picked up a few pollack, then further into the bay as the weather worsened. More pollack, pouting, and one of the lads landed a nice spurdog, weighed 11.5lbs.
Fishing was poor overall in spite of good conditions for drifting. Didn't get to anchor up and fish for ray, huss or tope. Swell was quite big by the time we were heading in and boats weren't going out tomorrow

On a side note, in those conditions I would normally be sick as a dog, even if I took Sea Legs or Stugeron. Today was the first time I tried Kwells, and they worked a treat, never felt sick at all.
