Report:We headed out from bangor marina at 5.30 to check out some marks because we have some Hungarian fishing buddies coming to stay for a few days next week but it will be hard to live up to their last trip during which we produced 22 species in 2 days!
First stop was Orlock point for some fresh bait, and i can officially say that i now hate catching mackerel! They came thick and fast with some monsters at almost 2lb!! After hearing stories of tope caught around the Copeland islands and my new addiction to tope fishing we headed for the channel between the islands.
After two hours and only one run we lifted the lines and headed to Ramharry Point to try for some other species. The mackerel haunted us and we dropped the lines as fast as we could to try to avoid them. Once through the shoal we caught numerous pollock (best 3lb), coalies around 1lb, garfish around 12' in length and the odd small codling.
At 8.00 we decided to call it a day and with a few mackerel and garfish we headed home for a quick BBQ.This area is alive with fish and we'll be sure to add this to the list of marks for these Hungarians.More reports to follow....
