People:Barry and me

Duration:about 4 hours

Tide:ebb

Weather:

Bait:frozen mac

Rigs:various

Results:about 10 huss and a few dogs

Report: Went out with huss and conger in mind. Got the boat in the water, parked up the car and then realized that I had forgotten the bag for rubby-dubby.
It hit me that somebody on the site said that when 1 thing goes wrong on a boat trip its soon followed by more.
We got to the spot and out went the anchor. Barry started off with small baits and lots of them while I was hunting for something bigger. I lost a good conger on the first drop soon followed by Barry's first huss.

I had a lot of missed bites due to big baits but stuck with it in the hope of avoiding dogs and getting in amongst dig huss and conger while Barry boated huss after huss.

After a while we decided to move and while I was taking up the anchor rope it was feeling very light. Up came the new rope with the new chain and anchor still on the bottom.

Another one went on and out over the side. With me getting worried about a blank I scaled down a bit and got a couple of huss and a dog while Barry had a nice huss.

Decided to call it a day only to find that both Barry's lines were around the prop so took about 15 mins to sort that lot out.
He pulled up the anchor while I started the boat only to find that the throttle control had come apart ant the engine.

Got that sorted and back to dock eventually after dark. Stuck the boat on the back of the car and gave a sigh of relief think at least nothing else could go wrong.

On the way home the trailer lights fecked up and killed the flasher unit on my car so limped home with no lights on the boat and no indicators on the car.

Nice fishing but what a comedy of errors.

Absolute Shocker that Coaster.

We had a bit of bother yesterday ourselves, coming in from the Maidens. Right at the mouth of Larne Harbour the engine lost revs and stalled and we could not get it started again. Right in the shipping lanes. Luckily we had the Suzuki 6hp as backup.

Well it turned out I hadn't opened the breather valve on the fuel tank. DOH.
Got back in and stuck the muffs on the main engine and she started up again.

And they say fishing is supposed to be relaxing :D

At least you had some good sport!!

Cheers,
Trev
