People:Me

Duration:1600 / 1900

Tide:HW@1900

Weather:Everything Sun Wind Rain Thunder Lighting

Bait:Macks

Rigs:Feathers Running Leaders

Results: Macks Gurnard Thornies

Report:Didn't Know whether to go out or not as the wind was quiet strong and it can be a B****h to get back on my birth when its like that.

At this stage the weather was fine but windy so i decided to take of my canopy as this reduces the amount of wind the boat catches and helps while birthing.

Headed out at 1600 with half a dozen Macks and almost a full box of squid for rubby, started gigging for fresh Macks for bait, The lough was quiet rough and fishing was uncomfortable but started to pick up a few stray Macks.

When i had enough bait i headed up the lough to a known Tope mark and started mashing up the Macks nd Squid for Rubby, Threw out the pick with the rubby attached and changed over to the running Leger's, (ahh Tope at last)

Nothing was happening and i was watching an on coming rain shower approach thinking it will only be a weeee shower and ill be fine then the sky went black and i could here Thunder in the distance why o why did take off the canopy   the rain pelted down with a vengeance and the Lightning flashed all around me i made sure to stay clear of the rods till the Thunder had left.

once the weather had subsided i went over to the rods and checked then low and behold i had a double hook up of Thornies on both rods  both fish were small aprox 4lb each and were returned. This continued for about an hour with a total catch of 11 Thornie's   (all returned) regretfully no Tope

Had to head home early as was meeting a friend for a few

I suppose it wasn't a bad days Fishing all things considered :?

Cheers Danny

Great mark the Swilly, had a boat on it last year and it rarely dissappointed in the early part of the summer.
