Maighdean Mara, Galway Bay 27th may 07

People:me, nige, fishinmidget, Papa Smirff and 3 others

Duration: a day's charter

Tide: high at 15:27

Weather: force 6-7 winds

Bait: feathers, shad's, jelly eels and mackerel

Rigs:running ledger, sonic spreaders, boom spreaders.. etc etc

Results: pollock, coalfish, mackerel, launce, poor cod, ballan wrasse, cuckoo wrasse, long spined scorpion fish, 3 bearded rockling..(one escapes me) and a spider crab

Report:
left spiddle an stayed close to the north shore due to high winds, started off catching pollock and the odd coalfish, then got my first launce of the year, moved a bit and started catching mackerel :D
baited feathers and nige caught a nice little ballan wrasse, i changed to sonic spreader, and caught a very nice male cuckoo wrasse, and a female cuckoo..

moved again and anchored up.. and caught more female cuckoo' s , ballans and good size pollock, nige pulled up a long spined scorpion fish..


fish were coming in steadily all day.. good days fishing.. pic's below..

it happend to you too. a good day all in all in the end i ended up catching some nice pollack on a 5 1/2" shad on a spinning rod. great fun. best pollack around the 5lb mark. lots of macks too.

i was on that boat in the background of your last pic, we went right out in to the rough weather and caught nothin, the fish got plenty of free grub tho it was howlin out ther, you's done a lot better then us, good fishin lads
