People: luke aston, jw

Duration: 11:30 - 17:30

Tide: a couple of hours either side of low water

Weather: The wind died completely. It was like summer. Boat drifted very slowly most of the time, maybe that was our problem.

Bait: fresh lug, fresh peeler, frozen mackerel sandeel squid

Rigs: muppets, hookais, devils, jelly worms, imitation sandeels, shads and pirks all of various sizes and colours. Even tried size 2 scratching rig

Results: blank  First time ever for this boat

Report: It was the first trip of the season for the Clare Dragoon. Started at the reefs near loop head and worked our way to the south west trying various marks to about 6 miles off. Depths from 50m to 70m. This boat is an excellent platform even on a breezy day, and it calmed right down so it was like being in one's sitting room. The only problem was couldn't find any fish. Saw shoals on the sonar from time to time, but no bites
During summer months these reefs often produce fish in prodigious quantities. Not sure why no bites this time
