Report:
Been a long time since you saw a report from me!!
Set out 10pm Friday sailing 8 hours out to the oil rigs in South China Sea. Then it was a 24 hour fishathon from 6am saturday to 6am Sunday.
Everyone else was complaining about the lack of fish compared to other trips, but I was happy with 22 fish including my best Barracuda, a smaller one, Giant Trevally, Chinese Mackerel, Gar fish & a Rainbow Runner!
It was dark on the way out and rough on the way in. It was even more rough on the way out though!!
Cracking weekend!
First stop was at a permanent oil tanker for some jigging. I was into a monster on the first drop, which shot down at a great rate of knots and was the first test for my new rod. This one chewed through the 100lb mono and so I switched to wire traces and couldn't get another bite at this spot. Some of the other lads managed some nice barracuda though so at least the fun had begun.
As we stopped off at the rigs, the fish came in, but it was a bit stop-start with long waits before the next fish.
Interesting that the Captain always got the biggest fish and that jigging was far more productive than bait fishing.
Couldn't take a lot of photo's as I was too busy fishing!! All in all a great trip!! Is it normal to still feel wobbly??

A happy me with my two barracuda! The one on the left sliced through my fingernail and finger like a razor blade - that was when it was dead & frozen!!
