People: me and mickeyfish
Duration: 2pm til 7.30
Tide: hw approx 2.30
Weather: little or no wind, resulting in little or no surf.
Bait: lug, razor, mackerel, sandeel, muscle
Rigs: 1up/1 down clipped, pennell rig
Results: 4 codling (38cms), 2 flounder (31cms), 3 whiting (29 cms), 2 coalies
Catch and Release:: both Yes and No
Report:
fishing was very slack, i got a small coalie on my 1st cast and thought it was going to be a good day fishing. due to the fact that there was little or no wind the surf was practically non existent. bites were few and far between. the first decent fish was the 31cm flounder which i got about 3.45,it was only as darkness fell that the codling started to show on the pennell rig loaded with lug and razor or lug and muscle.
fished the far left of ennareilly south, at the rocks between the 2 beaches, the ground was a bit snaggy but it seems to have been clearer the further right you go.

Thats what I must have been doing wrong then. Was down there last weekend and was casting 150 yards and was only getting Doggies and small whiting.
By the way how does it fish down there in the Summer months ?
Sun Feb 25, 2007 4:29 pm
u can get ray/ smoothhound and the odd huss...oh and dogfish! few weavers around too. flounder and bass in close with odd small coalie. i presume there are plaice around too.

pleanty of small tope to in the summer months ,,
Sun Feb 25, 2007 6:06 pm
heard about the small tope there alright. lads gettin bitten off on snoods less than 30lb. larger tope are around at times have seen lads fishin for em but to be honest it just looks so boring sittin it out with a big bait(for dogfish ehem!).
Sun Feb 25, 2007 6:09 pm
there are apparently more huss in the rough ground and they can be targeted here. i reckon similar ground would hold red cod too. bass to plugs...
Sun Feb 25, 2007 7:00 pm
that aint a bad idea ive never fished for cod here in the summer
do remember the long boring tope sessions but all well worth the wait when ya hit one
its usually in competitions when your whiting halfs come in :D :D
