People:Me and about 59 others!

Duration:5 hrs, 1 - 6pm

Tide:High water down

Weather:Beautiful, until mist came in, very chilly then, sea flat calm

Bait:Lug Fresh & Frozen, Peelers, Maddies, Razor, Mussel, Squid & Mackeral

Rigs:Various types of 3 hook flappers

Results:3 (Counting Flounder) 22, 25 & 28cm, 19cm Codling & Whiting & small flounder.

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:
Arrived in Castletown to see the water flat calm and sun beating down, very pleasant day to be on the beach (unlike the Raheny Open at the same venue last month). Used all baits but concentrated mainly on Lug tipped with peeled legs or maddies, or both, tipped with fish as it got dark.

Fishing was slow early on bit some fish (mainly flounder) were beginning to show after half an hour or so, I had my first about an hour in followed a few cast later by a double shot, 22 & 28cm. I knew I had one on so I twitched the bait back in and had another good bite about 10 yards out.

Very quiet then until the last 45min/hour when it began to get dark, but I could only manage a 19cm Codling & 19cm whiting and I dropped what felt like a decent fish on my last cast, most likely another flounder.

By talking to some of the other lads the usual guys had decent numbers of fish, 17, 15 & 12 I heard of,and the guy two pegs down from me had 9. All the same I definitley didn't finish last and thank God I didn't have another blank, if those 19's could've been counters I would have done reasonably well, all same I really enjoyed it and again it was run really well by South Shore, fair play to everyone involved.

Well done alby you done well, it was great to see the lads from S.A.I. i think you all done very well. We had 74 fishing 63 seniors and the rest juniors and oap's. The fishing was very slow to start with a lot of under size whiting and flounder,i had only 3 myself 28, 20, 20 i had a lot of under size withing at distance with only one counter, the 28 was a flounder on my first cast taken with a under size one of 18. The winner was Dave Roe with 15 fish he had some good flounders in his bag close on his heels was another south shore angler John bermingham he had 15 also but was pipped on points. I don't have the full details yet i will try and post them later. Well done again and thanks for your support i was much appreciated.

I fished Zone A on courtown and had 4 counted for 107 points finished 7/8 in zone. The biggest flat was caught to my left and the biggest round to my right signed for both. Me and mick came close in the pairs. hard fishing but a great day out. Saturday will be no walk in the park if the weather stays the same. See you all there.
