Mon Jan 29, 2007 10:46 pm

People: Paul, Ark Royal and myself

Duration: 1.30pm - 4pm Portrush / 4.30pm 6pm Ballintoy

Tide: HW approx 2pm

Weather: cold, overcast, windy and showers

Bait: rag / mack / lug worm

Rigs: 2 hook pats / 3 hook booms

Results: blank

Report: Joined the lads on a weekend at the Causeway and took an opportunity to get out for a few hours fishing. Bought some rag from Causeway Tackle in Bushmills and was informed that there were some fish showing about the Harbour in the Port also Ballintoy could be worth a shout. High Tide was around 2pm and with a large swell battering Ramore and the back of the Harbour had no option but to fish into the mouth of the Harbour. However with nothing showing and our baits being retrieved intact we decided to pack up and head for Ballintoy.
Fished the rocks below the blow hole - some nice chaps had left what must have been a pound of fresh lug so we tried these with the mack and rag but still nothing doing. Hard to tell bites in the wind but felt a couple of tugs but no hook ups. Ah well, better luck next time. :(

portrush harbour will produce the fish for you after dark, normally loads of whiting to be had after dark here this time of year
