disaster of a day, lost lots of gear, caught nothing worth talkin about, was disgusted at the state of the place ... probably my first and last time fishing in this spot.. gonna leave it for the lazy scum who cant be arsed to pick up there cans ,plastic bags, used tackle etc after them...

Nialler try fishing Killeny or Greystones its simple beach fishing go in the evening adn it will produce plenty of fish. Or try Laytown normally loads of flats and the odd bass this time of year and its within 20 min from skerries

yea its filthy, havint fished laytown or killiney, defo gonna give it a crack tho... do you no any rocky spots on the east coast that holds pollock? i think meself that a lot of dublin area shore spots are over fished too.... seen so many people keepin tiddlers for no reason... keen to try donabate too... ever fished there from the beach?

Howth is good for pollock during the summer doh. Never fished donabate even doh its only down the road from me. Wouldnt mind given it a go myself. But if ya want some easy enjoyable fishing try Killeny or Greystones sandy bottoms and plenty of smaller fish with the odd decent cod or coalie

yeah there are a few that are alright on there day. i will get some up later in the day. bad time of year now though. u could be better off headin a little south and goin for coalies off killiney or greystones...

In Howth you need to go around the hill and climb down to some of the good marks, the reason no one fishes them is the danger in getting down there. If you fall you will die.
I only did it the once, lost a pollock about 4lb off the rocks on the retrieve, never went there again though cos if it rained you wouldn't get back up.

pollack to 7lb can be caught from the east pier.

from the east pier! have only ever got the odd small doggie from that side... never knew ther was pollack around... dont see why donabate wouldint hold a few species, water is very shallow down ther tho... looks like a real bass spot round the rocks... have heard of decent rays and smoothounds from the sand banks at the malahide end in summer
