People:Me
Duration:8.40am to 11am
Tide:Flooding
Weather:Calm and overcast, quite mild
Bait:Lures
Rigs:Abu Rocket & various jointed plugs
Results:Bass (3)
Catch and Release: Yes/No
Report: In respect to the lads that gave me the mark I don't wish to name it. Sorry
Went down a few days before for a nosey at low water and straight away noticed lots of small fish in the rockpools, this gave me great hope as at least the feeding was there to draw the bass in.
Went down Saturday morning close to high water and after a few casts with the Abu I had a fish follow right into my feet before turning away. Went a bit quite then so moved to a different spot and took a 2lb fish on the Abu, was overjoyed even if it was small :D . Beautiful things bass, alot of hype surrounds them but they are wonderful looking fish. Things got better after that when I took another of 3lb on the Abu before a better fish of almost 4lb took a jointed plug. In between that I lost two other fish and a sea trout.
Really enjoyed this morning and it was real pleasure to fish light with no seatbox or a bag of beachcasters. Proved to myself too that the bass are more than around in the depths of winter.

I experienced the joy of not bothering to get out of bed until after 11 and missed all the fun.... Fished with Pete later on that afternoon/evening from a beach mark and it was fairly easy to tell the guys heart just wasnt in it, how could it be after a morning like that :D

.was way to calm and the moonlight didnt really help.its a beautiful beach when theres a nice surf running although you should have seen it 2 mths ago when the high winds were around, 15 ft waves breaking on the beach some sight.

Glad my mark turned up the goods for you Pete, As I told you its my banker and has never let me down. Worth the walk/climb every time. Gonna have to take a drive down sooner rather than later now I think :D :D .

Some of us do all the work, others reap the benefits. Life is like that ...

Excellent result! You'd be happy with that in the middle of summer let alone the middle of winter.

Marty can I formally ask you to be the best man at my wedding
You were welcome to stay over with us if your coming down, tell Andy too that is if he is still talking to me  .
Pity we didn't meet up Lumpy, you were right about the surf very little but then again out of the beaches around the area it was the only one that had any kind of motion that day. Was down there earlier on during the day and met two lads fishing it but they hadn't had a bite at that stage.

Mr McGroary ... your timing for that text was superb :D I was sitting next to Marty at the IBPAG conference when it came through, naturally I had to relay it to Mr Harrison imediatley. For the next 20 minutes all I could hear was a muffled "bas**** bas**** bas**** " :D

thats a pity alrite pete, another time. ya this beach doesnt really throw up much in daylight.it really fishes well from the start of aug to mid jan with alot of bass going in the right conditions.was talking to surfers who reckon theres about 20+ feet of water 100yards out

Whats the Abu lure you were using pete? Cheers
Wed Jan 31, 2007 3:16 pm
It looks like ray territory Lumpy, have there been any that you know of? I can well believe what you say about the depth, I've never been on a beach quite like it. Def not one for the waders... Sorry for all the questions but I'd expect decent flats from there too.....any sign?
Wed Jan 31, 2007 3:28 pm
ive always thought ray would be there but of yet nothing. ya we,ve had flounder to close on 2lbs there but not in great numbers.have heard of the odd turbut coming off there as well. you should take a look there at low water and see how deep the beach shelves, its quite frightening.have also had small codling off it in the winter.the rocks at the eastern end of the beach can also fish well for bass.i do quite a bit of swff there. unfortunately theres a few so called bass anglers down this way who dont really abide by the rules so we keep the location on the qt....
Wed Jan 31, 2007 3:55 pm
The abu lure is an abu rocket....slimline version of a toby.
Cool beach alright, heading down there tonight again as I'd say its the only place there will be a bit of movement with that calm weather.
Wed Jan 31, 2007 3:58 pm
id think so alrite, theres a we bit of a sw breeze at the moment as well so there should be a we bit more of a surf running
