My Reports 07 (Shannon region) 29-03-07

Tue Jan 23, 2007 9:44 pm

Will report all my fishing trips in this thread for the year.

First off Carig Island West, North Kerry, 23-1-07

People: Me and GearoidMcS

Duration: 2pm-6pm.

Tide: Low water 3pm.

Weather: Cold at start, from 5pm on windy with the odd shower.

Bait: Mackeral, Sandeel, Squid, Wraps, Prawns.

Rigs: 2 Hook Clipped, 3 hook Flappers.

Results: Me zero, zilch, nada. Gearoid nice 31cm dab , 3lb ray and another small dab 25cm

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: Both off college for 3 weeks so we decided to chance here, should have arrived earlier, about 12. I arrived and Gearoid had just cast out, while I was getting set up he landed a very good dab of 31cm, things looked good. His second cast resulted in a small 3lb ray. All caught on straight mackeral. I had no bite at all for 2 hours, then had a decent bite but missed the fish. Not a great start for my first session of the year. Weather was nice at start,bit cold but ok. Near the end it began to get rough and fish weren't biting so we packed up. Very bad fishing.

Well done Gearoid, I'd say you were pleased to see that ray. May it be the first of many this year.2 very nice dab also. I suppose the Dab are your dads dinner for tomorrow.

Nice to see Brendan out fishing again. I have a comp on Rossbeigh Saturday but what do ye think about a trip to Clare for Ray on Wednesday, HW about 10am. Weather permitting of course. I want to get off the mark in the ray stakes also.

Good post, and some nice clear pics.

No, last outing with you was my last ray trip of the year. Concentrated on bass and pollack after that until the wife delivered in Oct so not a lot after that. He's 3 mths now so allowed back out.
