unusual to get codling on sandeel, although we do get them on live eel down here off the boat in the summer

I've caught a good few small codling in my time to sand eel off wicklow pier. Some big cod have been caught off cappagh pier in clare to straight mackerel. Just depends I suppose.

Nice one Nailer,

Only ever used sandeel once.

What type of rig were you using? Did you have any problems with snags?

i was usin a one up, one down rig, with a grip weight, i wasint sure what type of terrain i was casting in to at first , only started right on high water, as it went down i realised i was fishin into a bloody minefield haha, dont no how i didnt loose any gear, big rocks and kelp beds everywhere, looked like ther was a drop off to deeper water bout 30/40 yards out
