[b]Results[Plagued with coalies up to around 18 inches in Length

[b]Report[I had to take the day off work to buy the rest of the christmas presents so decided to head off fishing during the evening the rod rattled within seconds of hitting the water I taught it was a bass but ended up being a double shot of coalies.
Its good to see some coalies in quantity from the beaches in Clare as its usually dogs or flats and the odd bass.

I met a local guy there and he told me he catches whiting up to 3lbs there during the winter on the lug worm so there might be the chance of a codling there too as its a deep enough beach when you can get the distance.

where about is selver strand in clare

Its a small beach between miltown malbay and leahinch I think there is a sign post its either called silver or white strand there is a small caravan site there too its a sharp right hand turn before you head off in the miltown direction.

That's interesting Neilus. I never knew about that beach until late this autumn. Its a really nice spot - it must be the best located caravan park in Ireland.

I came across this last night in TJ Westropp's Folklore of Clare
"The last reported appearance of a mermaid is so recent as the end of April 1910. Several people, including Martin Griffin, my informant, saw what they are firmly convinced was a mer-woman in a cove a little to the north of Spanish Point, near Miltown Malbay. She was white-skinned and had well-shaped white hands. The party tried to make friends with her, giving her bread, which she ate. Then a Quilty fisherman got frightened, said she was "something bad" and threw a pebble at her, on which she plunged into the sea and disappeared."
