Report: Me Te arika nua & sandstorm went to gleanarm breakwater for a nights fishing to see if we could get a bit of crack with a doggy or two. This was my first time fishing with sandstorm he is an SAI Newbie so say hi to him and make him feel welcome to the forum. We hit glenarm at about 4:45pm time we got set up it was and are lines in the water it was almost 5pm all ready for a good nights fishing. The water was cloudy not as clear as the last time I had fished it witch gave me a little bit of concern but it turned out ok in the end. The wind was blowing from the south south/west witch I knew was ok for glenarm breakwater as you have the hill to your right as you’re facing the water/Scotland. All was quite for about 45 minutes then sandstorm had a cod about the 30cm mark I reeled in and had a doggy on I didn’t know he was there as we were getting short bursts of wind so it was hard to see a bite. We had cast out and I got the tea out at 6pm and had a yarn or too winding up Te ariki nua as he was blanking as you do. The night went on and I must have had 2 or 3 doggies under my belt and sandstorm had 1 dog and a cod Te ariki nua was still blanking at this stage we had a cuppa at about 8pm and carried on fishing. I hate blanking and know how frustrating it is when you’re doing what you normally do and you get nothing. We carried on fishing and I had a double shot of dogs on the 2 hook pulley I was using but lost a hook and a fish as I was lifting them up Te ariki nua had a lovely cod must have been close to the 1lb mark 35-40cm sandstorm had another dog and it was 9pm. at 10pm I had about 5 dogs in total the norm for glenarm Te ariki nua had a dog and a cod and sandstorm had 2 dogs and a cod as well we were all relaxing at about 10:15pm when bang on Te ariki nua rod there is only one fish that hits a bait that hard. bass and we were all thinking it he started to reel in and I could see this bird getting closer and closer till it got to the edge of the rocks I scrambled down the rocks to free the bird witch I think was a herring gull could be wrong. The bird was quickly set free with no harm coming to it witch I am sure all fishermen would do the same I am a wildlife lover my self witch is why I love this hobby so much you get to hold a piece of wildlife in you’re hands witch you would probably never see in normal every day life and watch it swim away back in to its habitat. By the time 11pm came about I had 6 doggies sandstorm had 3 and a cod Te ariki nua had one dog a cod and a herring gull we left at 11pm and went on are merry way a good nights fishing was had by all and all fish were returned safely to the water for another day

one of the best nights fishing was doggy bashing all i got was doggys and i was happy i would rather catch 5 or 6 doggies that catch one cod more fun and the fight they put up is good crack. and like liam said there 45 points at a comp is good like i would of had 270 points if that was a comp if i get that at my next master angler comp i would be very happy :D
