south beach greystones

Thu Nov 30, 2006 2:35 pm

People: samo, lar, dbrock & joe

Duration: 20:00 to 22:30

Tide: High but dropping

Weather: dont know to focused on the fishing

Bait: mussel lug

Rigs: 2 hook clipped and i tried a wishbone for some crazy reason

Results: coalies, dogs, whiting, flounder, coddling and sea weed

Catch and Release:: Yes/No

Report:

brock and joe had already arrived on the beach at around 5 oclock myself and lar had to wait till 7 to head down because of poxy work and traffic. left my house at 7 after a cup of tea and a jaffa cake. after gettin lost in greystones for around 20 minutes we finally found the driving range and wommbled down to the beach.

brock and joe had already set up and were fishing away happy with out a care in the world they had caught a few small fish "so they said".

myself and lar finally got baits in the water at around 8 0 clock. lars first cast produced a coalie around 35 cm i had a small coalie brock had a dog and i think joe had a small whiting.

next 20 odd casts produced the same for nearly everyone coalie after coalie after coalie with small cod and a flounder of 28cm also in there,

good days fishing had by all pitty about the tide if on the rise we may have seen a little increase in the size of the coalies we were catching,

lar was king coalie on the day and walked away with the money

Hey Samo good session, fair play to ya's :) Were ya fishing far from the driving Range or just in front? I dont usually walk too far up the South beach in Greystones as i fish fish the North beach more (No Particular reason for it) If i do fish the South Beach it's usually right in front of the tunnel that brings you onto the Beach as there is a small outcrop of Rocks there that have always produced fish for me, but seeing as though i always seem to fish the EXACT same spots i'd be interested in Broadening my Horizons (Not too much or i'd have to fish a different location  ) any help would be great,
Cheers,
Al

Ye, just right in front of the driving range its a little snaggy in places but the fishing is good

what were you doing trying a wishbone must have missed that one

hey al drive to end of driving range park there walk acroos were its fenced of till you get to the tracks for some unknown reason 2 bars are missing in the fence {perfect to get box through} walk left on beach till your under the signal box {its like a traffic light} fish there can be snaggy but on an incoming tide always produces some codling

Hi Lads,

A long long time since I fished the south beach but if you get in at driving range and walk south along by the tracks until you cross over a small river and fish just beyond that this used to be a very good spot.

If you do try it let us know how you get on

Pat
