Strangford / Portaferry

I need some help. I'm trying to get down to either Strangford or Portaferry for a daytime session this week and was hoping that someone could point out a few possible marks. I've tried Audley's Castle which is a nice spot but only hit one small wrasse. Either side of the lough would do and if you could point out what tactics I should use I would be greatfull. Thanks folks.[/b]

Drew.

I've only Fished the Piers at Strangford and Portaferry, but both seem to produce a good stamp of Fish at times. I'd recommend the Fishermans pier at Portaferry due to the general numbers of Fish, You should get a few Coalies, Codling, and Dogfish... Maybe a late Wrasse... Hope this helps mate.

I have fished the lough for a few years now, depending on what your looking for its hard to say where to fish some places fish well at low tide some on the ebb and some on the flood ,the time of year also makes a difference because this weeks tides are late in the evening I would agree with drew and fish either of the harbor's and going on last nights performance bring rag with you if you want to fish the lough when the tides suit daytime send me a pm and I will see what I can do...Lazy

Thanks guys looks like its Portaferry then but which one's fishermans pier? Is it the ferry on-slip or the marina entrance? I'll probably be there at low tide (around midday) so I might try this place called Walter Rocks as its ment to be visable around then.

The Fishermans Pier is at the South of Portaferry Town on the Coast Road... 2 or 3 Pot Boats are in the small harbour Cast back up toward the Ferry Pier... Just Before the Moored Boats... A Lob is all that's required..

Tried Portaferry this morning at 5.30am. The wind would have blown you off the pier, pretty place though, must be nice on a fine day. Not much happening and the bites where hard to see because of the wind. Used rag and squid and only landed 1 small rockliing about 5" long. Got some good bites around 7.30am close in the the pier but nothing landed. Packed up at 8 to go to work. Will be back to try the spot again
