Lion's Head

Postby IDPearl » Sun Jul 11, 2004 12:22 pm

Fished the Lion's Head near the Bailey this morning from 6:30am to 11am.

Threw the pulley rig out and fished feathers off the other rod. First cast pulled in a small 1/2lb pollack. Next cast was a mackeral. Next cast was another slightly smaller pollack. Then nothing for a while, so float fished while I had something to eat. Saw a bite on the pulley rig - that was a nicely spotted doggie. Next on the pulley rig was a dab which was caught on a trailing hook I clipped onto the line after I had cast out. This was m.b3's idea yesterday. Tie a hook to a length of line, bait it up and a clip to the other end. Once you have cast out, hook the clip onto you line and let the bait slide into the sea.

Another small pollack took the float rig and it was time to go home.

Wanted to fish here for a while - pleased I did! :D

Thanks for the info on how to get there Mark. The rope's a bit skinny though and I wouldn't fancy it in the wet!

Not as snaggy as I thought.....only lost one rig about 10 yards out in front of me. Snagged in the kelp there on one cast, kept the pressure on the line and as it freed, immediately caught a pollack! :D

Didn't catch any birds today either!!

The path down to the Lion's Head....
