Arrived at clonea beach at 9:45 after driving from dublin on saturday morning on the recommendation of cortez. The weather was lovely and and the beach is one of the niciest beach i have ever fished on. Tackled up were cortez had advised us and began fishing in to a nice rolling surf. The tide had just turned and was on the way in. The fishing was very frantic at the start with little coalies robbing our lug but fun all the same. Then paul got a lovely bite and brougt in the his first proper bass. (second cast 20 mins after starting). Paul then caught another bass straight off, this one about 3.5lbs. I was begining to think my luck wasn't in and yet we were only fishing an half an hour. Then i missed a monster bite on my spinning rod and missed the fish. ;'Sick'. As i baited up this rod again my beach caster came up out of the stand and i knew i was in. Bass about 3lb. You could have pinched us.Paul then missed antoher fish that pick up his bait but then dropped it. Lack of waders and freezing feet on paul part made us finish our session a little earlier but not before paul pulled in another bass, smaller this time on his last cast. not bad for a 3.5 hour session.
We had heard reports of flounder over at passage east, since we had our fill of bass(can u believe it) we said we wud give it a try. but on entering passage east we were met with banners saying "ANGELRS NOT WELCOME HERE ANYMORE" and hangman nooses hung up around the place. So to say we were dissappointed was a understatement. we could have fished anyway but was fearful of the car getting a going over while we were on the beach. As luck would have it the ferry arrived and we decided to go over to duncannon. there is a beach i want to fish previously and hoped we might be able today.
Arrive at booley bay with the hope of some flounder only to witness another angler pull in a bass of 4lb and then a coalie of two pound. First cast i had a double hook up of flounder, then a coalie of about 2lb 10 yards out, and last cast beacuse we had a long drive home and no lights with us,povided a nice bass of 3 lb for me. This one i keep cause of it being deep hooked. paul didn't get a bite on this beach which made up for him trounsning me on clonea.
Catch and Release:: Yes (except one bass and one coalie)

How long roughly?

mark something to do with the drift net ban. they seem cut up over it. ill be advising our club to avoid this area in future duncannon, dunmore, passage east. the loss of revenue may make them change their minds. can't understand what aglers have to do with it to be honest. felt its nearly racism targeting anglers like that when its a governmet decision
thanks fishaolic, was the best one for a while
it took about 21/2 hours, cruised down and had breafast in waterford town.
dublin-carlow-waterford-dungarvan was the way we went.

hows about you cut down those signs and you and a few of your mates stick up a new sign saying "Drift Netters No-Longer Welcome" and see what they have to say about that. i wouldnt let my self get bullied out of fishing an area.

Where's Booley Bay, if you don't mind me asking? I was gonna go down to Woodstown beach after flounder this weekend but maybe Booley Bay sounds better!
