People:Myself and Dex
Duration:4 Hrs
Tide:2 Hrs either side of High
Weather:Surprisingly calm and warm
Bait:Frozen Mackerel and Sandeel
Rigs:Floats and Ledgering
Results:3 Pollack,2 Coalie,2 Pouting and a 3-bearded rockling
Catch and Release:: Yes
Report: It`s been a while since we`ve been out so thought we`d give the pier and rocks a wee go. Spent the 2 hours to dusk on the rising tide on the rocky head up behind the pier.Tried a bit of plugging(I had a large fish follow me last week while spinning..Bass/Sea Trout?) but no luck this time.Also had a sliding float on the go which got the rockling on a mackerel bait.Had a small pollack on the beachcaster,mackerel again.
Moved to the pier at high tide and had steady hits from coalie,pollack and pouting for the first hour on both mackerel and sandeel.it died off for the last hour.they were all small and released.
I have found in previous years that this is the best time of the year to fish the pier and the best spot is just 30 yards straight off the end with coalie to 3lb usually in abundance.
