People: Me, Peter M and the girlfriend showed up after it had stopped raining.. ahem!
Duration: 4 hours
Tide: dropping towards LW
Weather: Awful. SE Force 5, gust to 7 blowing right into my face on the usual mark, made casting almost impossible.
Bait: A few limpets taken off the rocks at low water.
Rigs: standard rough ground 1 hook paternosters, tried some spinning as well but to no effect
Results: A tiny wrasse right at the start, so being optimistic I didn't photograph it, and of course I got bugger all after that
Catch and Release:: Doh!
Report: 3 hours to fish in a gale, sure I could have done that at home! 8) Awful conditions in the early morning, improved around 10 am but wind did not abate. Gannets dive bombing off shore around 1/2 mile out but nothing inshore. Got one decent bang on a spinner but nothing else and as the tide dropped the kelp made fishing with a spinner impossible. One tiny wrasse at the start, and thought, great, I'll be into fish all day... not a sausage after that! Peter showed me a few other marks around the Point including some that will make it to the Irish Angler edition around December. Many thanks for that Peter... and some that will not which is fair enough! Can not remember having as poor a session ever in Donegal but the wind and tides were awful so what was I expecting? Ended up spinning in a mark on the lee shore for 30 minutes, two tiny pollack to Peter... major investment in cleaning my kit required!
