Bait:rag, lug, razor, crab, sandeel, squid, mackerel, maddies etc etc

Rigs:mostly 3 hooks flapping

Results: see below

Catch and Release:: YES

Report: this was an excellent competition which produced 263 counting fish between the 58 of the 70 anglers which included 19 junior u16 anglers as it was a leg of 2007 ulster team qualifiers.
the bulk of the catches were made up from small turbot and flounder with a big number of weevers too, other species were whiting , codling and dab, mostly undersize, there were also a big number of undersize (18-19.9cm) flounder present, i lost count personnally after 16 in that bracket, which is encouraging.

the seniors was won by phil hartin of ulster bass sac with 11 fish
forum members who made the prizes in the zones were stuart langridge, joint 1st in zone b, while i was just behind him in the same zone by length, same number of fish.

the juniors was won by jamie hanna of NASA at his first open competition with 12 fish. not bad beating everyone else on the beach by a 10 year old!!!

a few forum members featured in the junior prizes, in which every junior who caught fish went home with a prize, all kindly sponsored by local tackle shops and by a forum member from a little further a field! (you know who you are and thanks again...)

two man team was won by stephen scott and jamie hanna of nasa with 22 fish.

best out of state angler was won by kris burness of southshore sac

the longest fish was won by leigh mcgothigan of NASA (13 year old)! with a flounder of 35cm.

these juniors are really starting to show us seniors up!!!!

a special word of thanks to forum member paul mason, and his son stephen, plus kris burness and al santa maria for travelling up from dublin to fish this competition.

all in all a good day was had by most, and thank you to all who attended and made the event a success.

on another note, the guys who were at the river end found a net had been put right out across the river, they dragged it in and in it they found flatties, dogs, mullet, sea trout, you name it, mostly dead, although some of the fish were still living, these were immediately released by the anglers present, it sickens me why some people set these nets when it shows how many other species they kill just to get a few sea trout.
