Report:
Arrived in Ballinskelligs area Tuesday evening and had the intention of fishing the low tide at 0200 a.m. Woke up, looked out at the howling gale and driving rain and climbed back under the duvet.
Wednesday evening fished high water (9:30 p.m.)one hour up and one hour down. Conditions were nearly impossible due to very high levels of weed. result was a blankety blank.
Having spent two sessions without a fish decided to try for some fresh mack from Reenard pier on the Thursday. Only result was 3 very small coalies which were quickly returned. Tried plugging over rough ground during overcast conditions in what looked like a bass hotspot but failed to produce. Back to bottom fishing that night on high water in almost perfect conditions and the session turned up just one doggie.
Friday morning woke early to catch low water at 5:00 a.m. result  One bass weighing in at 3.5 lbs. Have to admit to keeping this one for the table.
Low water again on Saturday morning again with one bass being the result. The little fella was duely returned to grow and fight another day.
I have fished this area before and expected more during what was nearly perfect conditions on all but 2 sessions. All in all though an enjoyable few days. Now if only someone would invent teleportation to save the 8.5 hour drive each way.
