Rock mark south of Ennereilly

Tue Aug 22, 2006 1:10 pm

People: Me and m.b3

Duration: 21.00 - 01.30

Tide: HW ~ 00.30

Weather: Calm and cool

Bait: Rag, Crab, squid, mack, sandeel, frozen lug.

Rigs: 3 hook clipped

Results: 20 whiting, 6 dab, 2 rockling, 1 flounder, 12 dogs, 1 pup tope, 4 starry smoothies, 3 common smoothies, 2 bull huss.

Report: Had found this mark over the weekend while out exploring and was mad to give it a go. First couple of casts only produced a single whiting each but as soon as it was fully dark it was multiple fish every cast. 2 biggest fish of the night fell to Mark with a Starry smoothie of 4.5lb and a huss of over 6lb. Strangely both of our huss fell to plain worm baits and mark got one of his better smoothies on plain sandeel!

It was great not to be getting hammered by dogs for a change. We were really hoping for a ray but nine species in an east coast session more than made up for it.

Great session men! Are the whiting around early this year?

How are ya kstaff. The whiting seem to be a year round phenomenon up here after dark. Usually of the pin variety although we had a couple of half decent ones last night around 30 cm.
