Location: Me and the ould fella

Time: Midday onwards

Tactics: Floatfished mackerel bits

Conditions: Surface of the sun warm

Results: 12 mullet, one strap conger

Report: 12 mullet best to 5lb 2oz. Selected others 4lb 8, 4lb 12, 4lb 14. Got the conger on a quiver tip rod, size 12 hook and 5 lb line!!

I was just itching to get out even with the cast on so it was great to geta few fish and the first specimen of the year!

Obviously the location wasn't me and the ould fella!! It was the head of Courtmac pier.

I was floatfishing with the quiver tip rod. You keep the bait only about 2 inches off the bottom so its doable.

Its a bit of a quandry because there are some really huge fish there which you probably wouldnt handle adequately on the super light gear but tooling up would mean less enjoyment out of the 1 to 5 lb fish. Bit of give and take really.
