People:me, sometimes others

Duration: normally 1-3 hrs

Tide:various

Weather: everything, rain/wind/sun etc.

Bait: fresh lug, 5 minute rag, frozen mackerel, black lug and sandeel

Rigs: flappers/pullys

Results: pollock, wrasse, sea-trout, turbot, mackerel

Report: Fished mainly around the Maghery/crohy area, including the main beach, the smaller one, rocks at falmore and other rockie outcrops about the place, mainly on the otherside of Crohy.

Fished falmore twice but got foreced off soon enough due to rough seas both times, though the area was very impressive to see in this state. The powerfull swells made for great watching, with huge waves that were just awesome. Failed to catch fish though.

Other rocky places produced pollock but only at high tide, with most places being too shallow at low. Average fish were about 1-2lb biggest was 2.5. Some nights it was frantic sport with the pollock leaping out of the water to snatch the lure, real preditor in actiion stuff and great fun on light tackle (small rod/reel and 5lb line), pitty I had no surface lures. Wanted a bigger one and got one incredable run but the line snapped.
I also managed my first ever sea-trout here which I was really pleased with, it was about 1.5lbs and caught on the lure I won here from Kieran :D

Low tide around here gave up wrasse to 3.5lb on worms/mussells/limpets. Caught big ones at distance which was a new way of cathing them for me and as usuall they displayed their stunning aray of colours.

Fished the beaches twice with frozen blacks, mussell, mackerel and sandeel trying to get my first turbot. Stood in the gentle surf with a carp rod in hand walking up the beach and casting varios distances but only managed one wrasse on bait. There were, however, turbot about as twice one charged at my feet while I was wadding  . Tried to feather up some mackerel for fresh bait and managed to hook a small turbot on the red feather

So, all in all it was very enjoyable 2 weeks and just too brag I'll also add in my best catch which was a 4lb12oz brown trout wich gave an incredable fight :D

Big thanks to Big Bear and others for some of the info info, much appreiated.
