Clones Strand May 29th

Postby Don » Mon May 31, 2004 3:23 pm

Fished Clones Strand Saturday night 10.30pm to 12.30am. Started Ok with a smoothhound pup on rag, a LSD on rag tipped with mackeral and finished off with a flattie on rag. Surf was up and a lot of weed about made bite detection difficult. Caught all 3 fish in the first hour and after that the tide was receeding along with the fish.

Spoke to a gang of lads on the way out who were camping out and they were having similar catches of small flatties and LSDs.

Unfortunately Clones seems to be also affected by litter with a huge amount of beer bottles and a burnt out BBQ etc all left lying against the rocks on what is otherwise an unblemished beach.

The guys told me they had been challenged about it earlier that evening but that it was nothing to do with them.

It's unfortunate to think that the poor old angler is going to be affected even more with restrictions on access to beaches and marks if the A**h**s who leave this rubbish around continue to do so.

Here's to some snap off's in the right direction when the lager louts hit the beaches with their ghetto blasters and BBQ's.

Tight lines to all Forum Members in the coming months,

Don.
