Bait:mack, sandeel, crab, lug

Rigs:ledgering, float and spinning

Results:15 pollack

Report:Decided to try Orlock at low tide just to see how it went. I started float fishing with crab then lug then sandeel and not even a nibble. At the same time my mate fished with a bass wedge spinner and got 3 pollack. We both then tried fishing on the bottom with mackeral ,crab, and sandeel and i had 1 pollack on the mack. Both went back to spinning and got the rest of the pollack, most of them coming on the mates purple bass wedge. Other spinners tried included, black, yellow, surface poppers and flying c's. None of them except the yellow took anything. 8-10 where small the rest medium size. Will go back and try another time at low tide, it was well worth it. The pollack that took the bait of the bottom was a really vivid colour, with some red, its tail was well chewed, but not recent and it had lots of scaring along its head and back, never seen one like it. It was a pollack, not a cod but the colour was weird. Maybe its been feeding more on the bottom and its the diet that coloured it.

you do see that a lot - orange red pollack - bottom feeders right in the messy ground - and they always look battered about - was it any size usually those ones are never bigger than 2lb?

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. It was under the 1lb mark,

How far round from the steps were you fishing.

Most people stay near the steps on the "Point".

I generally go to the right from the carpark/layby.

We had one mackeral on a silver Toby last Sunday morning at high tide (11:00am) but didn't see anyone else catch.

Thats one of the best catches I've heard of from Orlock, Well Done.

I'm planning to take my fly rod next time.

Fish in round the right side nearly behind the big house. Some others arrived for maybe 45 mins and seemed to be using feathers and we didnt see them catch, they were right behind the house.

Ps. Not sure if there is more than one way into orlock, but i always go in at the water tower. Never really walked to far, so dont know whats at the other end.

plenty of good fishing at orlock nobuzz. try to leave the feathers at home and try for some different species. so far this year i've caught lsd, coalfish, wrasse, pollock, cod and of course mackerel from there. i also know from previous years that there is a fair few conger to be caught if u wanna fish for them. different spots fish well on their days. where u usually fish on the rocks to the right is a great doggie mark. large strip of squid or mackerel will catch them there. i tend to fish a fair bit round from the top of the steps. i walk thru 2 fields and fish the rocks to the right. there is large kelp beds around here so its hard to fish off the bottom so use a sliding float rig and fish ur bait a foot up from the kelp beds where the fish r waiting. spinning rubber sandeel or jellied worms or shads is another tactic there. hope this helps. :)
