People:me
Duration:2 hrs
Tide:2hrs of flood
Weather:warm humid
Bait:Brennans sliced pan
Rigs:bubble float with 18inch hook length
Results:1 mullet, just over 5lb
Report:
Alot of fish swimming upriver as the tide rises and they got more confident as the light faded. Just trotted a deeper stretch where they seem to hold up for a while. I'd say I use only about 3 slices for hook bait and the rest free offerings. Nightmare when a family of 9 swans came through the swim to take my ground bait.
Fish fought really well and made some very powerful runs, really testing the tackle, although to be honest 8lb line is plenty strong enough, diameter is too big if anything, 6lb or 4lb would probably suffice. Hopefully I can get a photo of the fish because the lad who netted her for me had his camera, wouldn't ye know it I left mine at home, ah well!

alby, you should know by now that a camera is the ultimate fish repellant, whether it be in your pocket or hidden in the bag, they can sense it. :D

Nice fish Alby,
id say it was quite a struggle trying 2 stear the fish through all the trollies and cones  , !! At least you had graceful Swans dinning on your groundbait, 4 me its usually the cormorans that come along and ruin the swim altogether

Yep Wes, the camera can certainly be the kiss of death on a session alright, although a few people have told me lighting a cigarette can switch them back on again. I've noticed pouring hot soup from a thermos usually see's the bites come back again too.
Cheers Chleon, they dont really fight dirty, had a few good runs but didn't try to hang me up or anything. the barriers and stuff only really come into play at low water. Just begun to wonder will the development of the new stadium effect the river, there's bound to be some of that run off like a few years ago when building the offices in Ballsbridge. Time will tell I guess, it's handy fishing though, a pan loaf for bait and some nice fish in it too.

Your certainly rit there Alby, there are some beauts in the river! On a rising tide, last summer, i was looking over London bridge and saw a 'submarine' of a fish which was easily 8lb+ and as you can imagine, i was speechless! I headed straight home to get my mullet gear which i always have setup in the summer(IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES) bought a pan of bread on the way back up, but alas, i only managed a couple of small fish even though there were still plenty of 6lb+ fish still cruizing around! They are extreamly weary fish!
