North Kerry rock mark 22-July-06

Sun Jul 23, 2006 10:48 am

People:Me and KD

Duration:1pm till 5pm

Tide: Around 4.20pm

Weather: Moderate southerly with sun

Bait:hardbacks and lures

Rigs:1 hook Paternoster

Results: 3 good sized ballens

Report: Fished tight to drops off using small hardbacks for first two hours which resulted in more than 20 missed bites with the crab gone each time. May have been just smaller wrasse as bites were small compared to when I got the fish or poor fishing on my behalf. The 3 wrasse were all caught within my last half an hour of wrasse fishing. Switched to spinning for pollack with shads, jelly worms and german sprats without a pluck but again I've no real experience of this. Wind made spinning very hard. Kd spun and feathered all the time without a pluck. Couple of local lads were helpful and they managed a couple of small pollack to spun sand eel and couple of macks to feathers but they were thin on the ground. They had lug but the crabs outfished for wrasse by a mile.
