Report:
The wife wanted a trip to the beach this weekend for a wee change and I was encouraged to bring the rods (I don't normally like the beach on sunny days - sunburn and all that) so we headed to Waterfoot Beach today.
We found a quiet spot near the south end of the beach and I set up there, we had packed a cool bag with sarnies, beer, fruit, suncream and water so it was a great wee day out.
Pity there was no fish - I fished mack baits at distance, rag close in and also tried feathers but no luck.
The in-laws and nephews joined us after an hour or so and we had a gane of footie on the beach which took my mind of the poor fishing.
The amount of weed was horrendous and I ended up with some severe tangles   .
On the way home, all the popular marks were packed out but no-one appeared to be catching.....
The missus allowed me a sneaky 3/4 hour at Glenarm on the way home but again there were no fish - although one other guy landed a small pollack.
I think I will stick to evenings from now on at this time of year.....

By all accounts it sounds as if the coast isnt fishing very well at all just lately, hearing some very bad reports coming from people....and your right GG,the weed is blanket thick in places along the coast,i was up there on sunday past having a look around, its putting people off.We are gonna give Garron Point a crack sometime in the next few days and see what comes up,if we get nothing wre giving up till the winter comes.I think its a case of too much sun and warm weather thats killing the fishing off.

Hi Carl,
there are fish being caught but all at night time.
As you say - too bright and warm during the day makes the fish lethargic....

only new on this site gents. was trawlin through and spied all the reports on this forum.. read rhe reports about the w@@@@@s killing the conger eel at waterfoot on friday night. me and the mate hit the pier at 9am on sat morning. high tide at 230pm so plenty of time 2 sit and enjoy the sun and the fishin. we had been down about 2 hours and a van full of fellas weighed in. 1was talking 2 me sayin they were on an allnighter and caught a conger. he also had half of it in a plastic bag 2 use as bait. i thought that was bad until i seen his mate hook into an eel about 25-30lb using a kids starter rod that wud get it tight reeling in a mackeral. he keep it on and tired it out but cudnt get it out so amazingly his mate got a trout landing net with a treble hook tyed onto the rim and tryed 2 foul hook it . lucky enough the smart aul conger started rolling and broke the line.. hate seeing s*** like that
