Bait: Rag - Mack -Sand eel

Rigs: 3 hooked flapper + 1 hooked clipped

Results: Flounder + Dab


Report: Most fish were caught very close in, Only a very short lob of about 20 ft (or even less) Tried for Doggies at distance with no luck.
Also fished St Johns point next day, Plenty of tourists, But the fishing wasn't great - Mackerel where there before high tide but when the tide went out, the mackerel went with it.
But Glengormley + District SAC, Still had a cracking weekend away.

Plenty of beer no doubt!! Would you not try teelin for a bit of variety? Was there many anglers?

Hi there, interested to hear you say about the variety of fish at teelin. Where abouts is the best fishing there, because there is an issue there about crossing the land to get to the rocks behind the fish factory, and we were warned off in the past. What bait, rigs etc would you suggest because from what i remember there was deep water off the rocks, but the ground was really rough, and we didn't get allot of rigs back, even using rotten bottom pulleys? Any help would be much appreciated.

If your going to Teelin dont bother with the pier, unless its at night, where you will get conger, whiting, coalies the odd pollock, dogs and the odd dab. During the day mackerel and mullet.
If your gona fish the rocks there are 3 areas. To the far left behind the factory, a bit difficult getting out there very uneven ground. Cross the wall and up over the hill. Two locations, one to the right you'll come to a series of rocky platforms where you can get down the water. Then in the middle of these two spots is a point sticking out between them. Mackerel are here all the time, even until november! First 25 yards is all rough before turning mixed before going to sandy ground. Really deep water where you can pick up almost anything: pollock, coalies, wrasse, dogfish, whiting, ling, rockling, congers, gurnards, most of the flats, I heard of sole being taken here and Ive had small codling also. For bait, depends what ur after, rag,lug,mackerel,launce,sandeel,squid, will all work grand for all these species. As for rigs, just use something simple and rotten bottom for the rough, and 5-6oz grip leads if your casting far, I get away with 3oz sometimes, depends whats in the tackle box!!
Ive never had any trouble from the land owner, maybe cause Im a local and I know them!
