People: Myself & father in law fishing
Duration: 6hrs
Tide: Dropping
Weather: Great :D Glorious sunshine
Bait:
Rigs: Spinners
Results: 70+ Pollock & Coalies to 5lb
Report: Went over to Rathlin for a day trip with family and the in-laws from Australia. Didn't get off to a great start, tried to get bait before we boarded the ferry at 10am but tackle shops in Ballycastle were closed :x
Anyway rest of the group decided on sight seeing & bird watching, so that left myself & the father in law to it, great no nagging in our ears
We decided on fishing the rocks along the coast to the Rue lighthouse,
we fished and climbed for about a mile catching only a few small pollock when we decided we both had enough, especially with the amount of seals! never seen so many. So we headed back to the old harbor area, where we spent the rest of the day, plus its close to the pub :D The father in law proceeded to land two nice pollock with biggest almost 5lb on his first 2 casts! Had great crack with all most non stop action on light spinning gear with the pollock and coalies and this time only a couple of seals for comfort.
All in all a great day out, though next time i might get one of the locals to take us to the back of the island as we had a great chat with an old guy at the harbor about the area and less walking !
