fished on beaches in the angus area - lunan bay, st cyrus , montrose , elliott arbroath
seniors - won by scotland 27pts
2nd ireland 25pts
3rd england 20 pts
4th wales 17 pts
the youth and junior irish teams both unfortunately finished 4th but this was through no fault of their own, they gave it their best crack.
basically it was flounder made up the bulk of catches with quite a few turbot off elliott and some bass, dab and plaice also showing on venues...plus pipefish!
with the senior team we won the practice day and the first competition day but unfortunately scotland pipped us on the second day.
good fun was had by all and apart from one day glorious weather to go with it
team - noel kinnear and me - ulster
kevin dailly - leinster
stephen hallisey - munster
j.p. molloy - connaught
was also good to meet a couple of forum members on the junior teams.
next year it is the turn of ireland to host the event and it will be hosted by munster.

Hello Phil,
Your lads did realy well, and with a bit of luck you could have had Gold in the seniors.
Young Kevin looks agood prospect, and I look forward to meeting up with Noel and the other lads in the World team in Portugal in September.
All the best to you
Bazza

What in the name of God are the nets on the beach being used for?

salmon and sea trout i was led to believe, they were on a few of the beaches up there, altough a cracker of a dab was spotted in one of them during the championships
there were tractors etc checkin them over low water on a couple of days... :?:

Yeah that's right Phil, i think they are a type of bag net, and they are predominantly for salmon and sea trout but they will catch sea species such as flounder, bass etc.
Some excellent photos there too.
