Fished a good number of marks around the area mostly from 1800-0100 with poor results. Mostly dogs with a few minor species thrown in.

Monday Lahinch beach start 2000
flat calm conditions with a dropping tide. I made my first mistake by bringing two rods, I was not ready for how quickly the tide goes out here and so after a couple of hours struggling to keep up I abandoned and headed for what I hoped was deeper water. I ended up on Clegg beach which on the outset looked a bit deeper but that was the same. I stayed till 0030 and had good fun with dogfish on a carp rod, fixed spool reel and braid. Bait was sandeel.

Tuesday Flat rocks Black head.
1900-0015 Bait sandeel and fresh mackerel. light winds.
Very calm conditions and a dropping tide. I started on sandeel with little success and caught some mackerel on the spinning gear, that was as good as it got for me. Neilus came along for a few hours and had a couple of tiny whiting and a couple of mackerel on the bottom. I had one good run on the carp rod which broke the hook snood very quickly. An enjoyable evening in good company, Thanks Neilus.

Wednesday I decided to head south and fished Carrigaholt beach in the hope of ray, fished there from 1800-2100 with my usual companions, dogfish but no ray. I had caught mackerel from the cliffs south of Kilkee, that has to be one of the maddest places to fish. I am surprised that someone has not been killed from there. I moved to Poul na Sherry but the tide was running too hard. Fished out in the bay close by with just dogs showing.

Thursday had a full days fishing so I again tryed for ray at low water in Poul na Sherry but there were too many dogs, in close out far the result was the same. When the tide rose I mover to the rocks at Aylvaroo but still no ray or any bites there at all. In desperation I decided to move to Cappagh in the hope of a huss but again just dogs and a small whiting to show.

Result, disappointed not to get the target species. I would have fished Lahinch more had there been any surf. All in all I had a good week with plenty of fish to keep me happy. Thanks to Neilus and Kevin H for all advise given.

the flat rocks could be different to "the flats" - there are ledges further south and east of "the flats" and blackhead itself - that he could have been talking about - was just thinking this as he hadnt called it "the flats "

Sorry guys that should be the flats, I am not familiar with the area and just remembered the word flat being there somewhere. Sorry for the confusion.
