Cunnigar, Kilteery pier and Dunmore head 25/6/06-27/6/06

People:me

Duration:Sunday to Tuesday mostly 3-4 hour sessions

Tide: all flooding, mostly over the top and springs

Weather: good to excellent with very light to moderate northerlys

Bait: rag, lug, frozen sandeel, squid and small hardbacks

Rigs: pulleys and one up one down

Results: bass, wrasse, pollack, mackerel.

Report:
Drove down to Cunnigar on Sunday to fish the top of the flood. Nice evening with little breeze. Fish everywhere, caught about a dozen bass in the 1-2 lb range. All returned. Met Cortaz and had a chat. He caught one of the bream I had been hoping for. So at least i got to see one.

Monday: Stayed overnight and fished the early morning tide. Wind had veered northerly and put a chop on the water and it was much cooler. No fish. No bites in 2.5 hours. Maybe Cortaz knows why?

Monday: After finishing at Cunn drove over to the Shannon at Kilteery. Caught 3 thornies here a few weeks back, but couldn't get them up the pier. Back this time with a dropnet and guess what. Not a bite.

Tuesday: Moved down to Dingle and fished Dunmore head. Lots of pollack to 4 lb and mackerel became a nuisance on trolled sandeel. Only one small wrasse on crab.

Still a good couple of days fishing. Now back to work for a rest.
